If these questions lead you to more detailed questions, please call us at (913) 441-1600 to connect with a team of experienced dentists.
Q. Should I keep my teeth or have them out and have dentures made?
A. As dentists, we recommend our patients keep as many of their natural teeth as is practical because full dentures don’t work as well as partial dentures or bridges or even implants. However, if your teeth are not good enough to last at least 3 to 5 years, then dentures with or without implants can help.
Q. Should baby teeth cavities be fixed?
A. Yes, if they are not ready to be lost soon. They are necessary to hold the space for the permanent teeth when they come in.
Q. At what age should a child start coming to dentists?
A. It depends, but around 2 to 3 years of age is the best time for children to start visiting dentists to check how things are going and prevent problems.
Q. Why might I need to see specialist dentists?
A. Some procedures require the talent of specialist dentists to improve the chances of a successful outcome. As with your family physician sending you to the cardiologist, specialist dentists is sometimes the best option for patients.
Q. How much experience does your team have?
A. Our dentists have 80 years of combined family dentistry experience. Dr. Nathan Biggs has over 24 years of general dentistry experience. Dr. Hartman averages over 45 hours of continuing education every year, mostly dealing with implants, dentures and cosmetic dentistry.
Q. Do you have a payment plan?
A. Yes, our dentists use Care Credit for most situations requiring spreading out costs.
Q. Why should I have a root canal instead of just taking a bad tooth out?
A. If there is enough tooth remaining, it may be less expensive to have a root canal, build-up and crown then extractions and bridge. Many factors have to be weighed and our dentists like to give our patients options to keep their smile, but some are more expensive and function better than others.
